President’s Letter – 2.11.21

I hope this message finds everyone staying warm and healthy during these cold winter days.

I wanted to reach out to make sure everyone is aware that we will be holding our first West Central Neighborhood Association Meeting of the year next Monday, February 15th at 7:00 pm.  The meeting will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church where we will practice social distancing, and everyone will be required to wear a mask. If you are unable to attend the meeting in person, we will live stream the meeting on the West Central Neighborhood Association Facebook page (not on “Beyond Porch Parties”). This meeting will be packed full of updates on the New Downtown Hospital, Tunnel Project, Electric Works, Local Historic District Expansion, Neighborhood Tree, Beautification and Safety Programs and Much More.

I am also excited to announce that we will be holding our first Home and Garden Tour Meeting on February 23rd at 6:00 pm. The meeting will be held at Welch’s Ale House located at 1915 South Calhoun St.  If you have volunteered to be on this committee in the past or would like to get involved with this year’s home tour, we would love to have you attend this meeting. If you have questions prior to the meeting, please feel free to email me at brandon.steffen@yahoo.com or Greg and Cindy Brandt at gbrandt1025@gmail.com.

The board has selected Andrew Stout, Mike Anderson, Kelly Benton and Connie Mettler to serve as advisors to the board. I am excited to work with these talented individuals to better our neighborhood.

The West Central Neighborhood Association is only as strong as its members. We need you to get involved. Each month when I send out my monthly letter, I will be including a list of volunteer opportunities along with the information of who to contact to be part of the committees. My number one goal for this year is to make sure everyone feels welcome and part of the neighborhood.

If you have not yet done so, please become a member of our Association today. Please go to: westcentralneighborhood.org.

It appears that this weekend will deliver some of the coldest weather of the year. I want to remind everyone if you have an elderly neighbor please check on them, see if they need anything and help them clean their sidewalks.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone at Monday’s Association Meeting.

Have a great week.

Brandon Steffen – President, West Central Neighborhood Association
