Hello Neighbors!
It’s another grand day in the ol’ West End Neighborhood.
Summer is waning and the katydids are in full throat! For many, that means kids have gone back to school as well. Just a reminder to please drive carefully and obey speed limits and stop signs. Lots of loved ones walk in our neighborhood, so lets all be safe.
Home & Garden Tour – Sept. 12 & 13
The 44th Annual Home & Garden Tour is just three weeks away! Our committee has once again put together an amazing lineup of homes to tour, plus great bands for ArtsFest, delicious food trucks, and a host of talented artists and artisans. There are still volunteer spots available so if you want to help out, click here to sign up. You’ll be making a difference for the neighborhood, plus you get a complimentary ticket to tour the homes and an invitation to our pre-tour party!

I’m also looking for volunteers to help me with setup (Saturday morning, 9/12) and teardown (Sunday, 9/13 at 5 pm). This involves some physical effort with loading/unloading tables and chairs, installing mesh fencing for the stage area, cleaning table Sunday morning and before tear down, etc. If you can help out, please text me at 260.433.3672 or email at joelsauerllc@gmail.com and we’ll get you added to our group. More details will follow closer to the actual date.
October Association Meeting
Since September is our big tour month, there will NOT be a member meeting in September. So our next WCNA meeting will be on Monday, October 19th at 7 pm (in the basement of Emmanuel Lutheran Church on W. Jefferson). City Council Representative Geoff Paddock will be attending and bringing some of his friends from the City. It’s always valuable to have Q&A with Geoff – and I’m sure you’ll see him around the Home & Garden Tour as well. In addition, we will start the election process for 2027 officers. If you’re interested in serving, please reach out to anyone on the board (see emails below).
Priorities for 2027 – we want your feedback!
As we near the end of 2026, we’re now starting to focus on priorities for 2027. Priorities for the WCNA means where we put our money! We want to hear from you on where you think we should concentrate resources for the coming year. Please complete our priority survey by clicking here.
Neighborhood Trees
Later this fall, you’ll see City crews planting 54 new trees in West Central! A big shout out to Joe Francis, aka “The Tree Guy,” for canvasing the neighborhood looking for spots in need of a tree. It’s amazing the difference trees make for walking, biking, or living in a neighborhood, and your WCNA is a big supporter. This year, we invested additional funds to get slightly larger trees from the City, which have the ability to make a quicker impact. Also want to note that Joe personally funded the last four trees that were beyond our WCNA budget – thank you, Tree Guy.
Well, that’s it for this month. Hope to see you on the front porch real soon!
